A Dance of Fire And Ice is a one button rhythm game inspired by the likes of Rhythm Heaven.

The premise is simple; you have 2 orbs, one orbiting the other, moving along a track. whenever an orb reaches the next tile on the track, press the button. While this starts out easy enough, it eventually spirals into requiring a mastery of all types of strange, less common rhythms. The game is strict, and short of occasional checkpoints on later levels, one mistake will send you back to the beginning of the song. While this can be frustrating, there is a practice mode accessible from the menu at any point allowing you to try any section of a song, even at slower speeds, and the challenge creates a true sense of accomplishment.

Where we started
How it's going now

While the game's 29 official tracks (up from an original 7) are fantastic in their own right, ranging from a wonderful introduction to the game's premise to some fun crossovers and truly difficult challenges, where the game really shines is its workshop community. Players have learned how to push the level editor to its limits and create incredibly fun, challenging, and outright beautiful maps.

Ooh pretty
Love me some glitch effects
Okay this is just a different game at this point

On top of all this, the game has a small DLC created primarily by TaroNuke of NotITG and Mawaru fame, and it's every bit as insane and polished as you would expect.

This game is truly one of my favorite rhythm games of all time, and at $5.99 I certainly think it's worth every penny. I've not played anything else that makes me feel the rhythm quite like A Dance of Fire and Ice.
